Timing: Approximately 30 minutes (plus 10 minutes’ transfer time)

A variety of question types is used, chosen from the following: multiple choices, matching, plan/map/diagram labeling, and form completion, note completion, table completion, flow-charts completion, summary completion, sentence completion, short-answer questions

All total, there are 40 questions and at the end of each part, you get some time to double check your answers. You get 10 minutes to transfer your answers to the answer sheet at the end of the full IELTS listening test. You need to show up a careful listening so that you listen and make out each bit of it easily because the recording will be played for ONCE.

Marking: Each correct answer receives 1 mark

Scores out of 40 are converted to the IELTS 9-band scale

IELTS Reading

Timing: 60 minutes (no extra transfer time)

Questions: There are 40 questions

The IELTS Reading Test, covers around 1 hour. This test is different for the candidates of the General and Academic modules. The chief difference between the tests conducted with both the types of modules is of Language. The candidates of General Module face easy text when the candidates of the Academic Modules consist of the complicated one. The Academic Module consist of three passages while in General Module the IELTS Reading test consist of five passages. But the number of questions remains the same in both the modules that is 40.Although the reading passage subjects are different but each one of it is of academic nature.

IELTS Writing

Timing: 60 minutes

Tasks: There are 2 tasks

Candidates are required to write at least 150 words for Task 1 and at least 250 words for Task 2

The Writing test of IELTS last for one hour. It is advisable that you should spend 20 mins on Task 1 and the incur rest 40 mints on Task 2. You are supposed to write at least 150 words for Task 1 and Minimum of 250 words for Task 2.

Academic Writing In Task 1, candidates are presented with a graph, table, chart or diagram and are asked to describe, summarize or explain the information in their own words. They may be asked to describe and explain data, describe the stages of a process, how something works or describe an object or event

In Task 2, candidates are asked to write an essay in response to a point of View, argument or problem. The issues raised are of general interest to, suitable for and easily understood by candidates entering undergraduate or postgraduate studies or seeking professional registration. Responses to Task 1 and Task 2 should be written in a formal style.

General Training Writing

In Task 1, candidates are presented with a situation and are asked to write a letter requesting information or explaining the situation. The letter may be personal, semi-formal or formal in style.

In Task 2, candidates are asked to write an essay in response to a point of view, argument or problem. The essay can be slightly more personal in style than the Academic Writing Task 2 essay.

IELTS Speaking

Timing: 11-14 minutes Tasks:

Part 1 Introduction and interview (4-5 minutes)

The examiner introduces him/her and asks the candidate to introduce him/herself and confirm his/her identity.

PART 2 INDIVIDUAL LONG TURN (3-4 MINUTES)

The examiner gives the candidate a task card which asks the candidate to talk about a particular topic and which includes points which the candidate can cover in their talk. The candidate is given 1 minute to prepare their talk, and is given a pencil and paper to make notes. The candidate talks for 1-2 minutes on the topic

PART 3 TWO-WAY DISCUSSION (4-5 MINUTES)

The examiner asks further questions which are connected to the topic of Part 2. These questions give the candidate an opportunity to discuss more abstract issues and ideas.

The IELTS Speaking test is conducted in a personal interview (PI) form, in which the examiner look for how communicative you are and how well you speak up. All the other test are conducted in one day except Speaking Module. It can be possibly conducted in one day, or maybe in the duration of 7 days or perhaps before the test of the other parts. It will require reading the instructions of each question carefully and then answering them as instructed. PART 3: LISTENING (45 – 57 minutes)

Listening

Here you need to answer both objective and subjective questions. MCQ, fill in the blanks, Look for the missing words, highlight the right paragraph and thereby throw light on the wrongly framed sentences. You will be ask to submit the synopsis of the spoken content. Also you need to pen down the dictation.

Time Duration:45-57 mins

The listening section directly means assessing your listening skills. It is the part 3 of the test but will also have some integrated speaking and listening questions in part 1 section. The part 3 of the test would contain questions that are based on the video and audio clips that will begin automatically. You will be required to hear each audio or video clip only once. You can take notes. For the each question, you will have an opportunity to set the volume level. When the audio clip is playing, you can move the control bar to the right to enhance the volume or to the left side to decrease the volume.
